FLASH Costumes
We are very grateful for our wonderful volunteers at Kintail. This winter, a volunteer has been busy making Biblical costumes for us to use during our FLASH (Faith, Learning, and Sharing) time. On Wednesday's we do a camp-wide FLASH that often includes a drama. These costumes will be used to help make the story come alive! Mercury modelling one of the costumes.

Solstice's Guest Post
Hey everyone – Solstice here. I was just daydreaming about camp when I should’ve been studying. I am just way too excited about this summer – I hope you are, too! Flare and I have been chatting about the awesomeness that will be our LIT program and it looks like it’s going to be a “knock-your-socks-off” summer in Kumbaya as far as we can tell. I’m sure Wooly Mammoth and Pacific are planning some joyous delights in Tir-na-nog, as well!
I’ve been thinking about where we will be doing our out-trips and the options are looking great! Out-trip was certainly one of my favourite parts of LIT when I did it. It was just such a great opportunity to get to know people and to relax in the beauty of nature… not to mention develop intimidating amounts of muscle and scare the pants off your friends!… Although, now that I think about it, I have never witnessed somebody have their pants scared off. We do seem to be coming up on that time, though – not to have your pants scared off, but the time for applications! They’re due in to Trillium by the end of February, I believe, and I’m excited to see all your creative applications and hear who’s planning to come back or if anybody new is thinking of trying Kintail LIT out (I was one of those.)
If anybody has questions about the program, feel free to email me at KintailSolstice@gmail.com I would love to hear from you and I’ll do my best to answer your questions or you can email Trillium, as well. She’s always friendly and a big help. Until that time, keep dreaming of the summer. I heard a rumour that it will be sweeter than a tootsie-roll, more fun than monopoly, and that it will rank higher than in the popularity vote than sliced bread!
Cheers!

Wooly Mammoth's Guest Post
Every time I look at a calendar it seems to be a new month! It is only a week until March, and do you know what that means? LIT applications are coming due! There are four LIT RCs that are incredibly excited to get up to Kintail and put these programs together. But what good is a LIT program without LITs? There are two different opportunities for potential LITs, one that involves outtripping and the other that involves a focus on Music and Art leadership. Both programs focus on leadership skills that you can not only use at camp, but also to help you get involved at home!
I was a LIT in 2001 and Outtripping LIT RC in 2005. Of all the summers I have spent at Kintail, these two stand out as my favourite. I learned so much about myself and what I could do, and was able to grow in my faith with my peers in a positive environment.I am now one of the Music and Art LIT RC and look forward to giving people the opportunity to experience something similar to what I have experienced.
Again, I am VERY excited for this summer, as are the other LIT RCs and the rest of the program staff. We want to make sure this special opportunity is available for as many people as possible, so if you have any friends that are 15-17 years old (turning 16 this year), or if you fit those qualifications yourself and want to spend four weeks at Camp Kintail, then check out http://www.campkintail.ca/lit.cfm for the application, and do it soon, applications are due at the end of the month!See you soon!Scott McGinnis/Wooly Mammoth
Wooly Mammoth as an LIT. Can you guess which one he is?

Staff 2009
We have been very busy at Camp Kintail over the last month hiring the staff of 2009! Each potential staff sends in an application, including a creative portion that explains why they would be a good staff member. Every applicant is interviewed by a team, and two references are called. All "Leading with Care" guidelines from the Presbyterian Church in Canada are followed. After careful deliberation, the staff are then scheduled and hired. We have a great team for 2009!

Dreaming of the Summer
The camp's treasurer just sent me these beautiful pictures of the beach at sunset. It makes me miss camp a lot! It won't be long now until we are all back at the beach, enjoying God's amazing creation. Staff are in the process of being hired, registrations are coming in, maintenance work is being organized, and LIT applications are arriving daily - the summer is right around the corner!

Counselling Program Day
On Saturday, the hopeful counsellors of 2009 gathered for a day of fun, games, problem-solving activities, counselling situations, and interviews. There were about 40 gathered and eight volunteer interviewers. After a great day, decisions are now being made and references checked. The staff of 2009 will soon be in place! Some staff acting out the best parts of the coming summer.
